Support for teens

Trauma-trained and neurodivergence-affirming support for adolescents

Available in St Neots, Cambridgeshire and online.

Being a teenager can feel intense.

Emotions can feel bigger. Social pressures can feel constant. School expectations can feel heavy. For some, there’s also the added weight of anxiety, shutdown, sensory overwhelm or masking.

You might be looking for support for a teen who seems withdrawn, easily overwhelmed or constantly on edge.

This is a space where they don’t have to mask.

A safe space for adolescence

Teen sessions are paced gently and shaped around the young person in front of me.

I am a trauma-trained, BACP Registered Integrative Counsellor using the Arts. This means I can draw on both traditional therapeutic conversation and creative, expressive approaches when words alone feel hard to find.

  • Some teens prefer to talk.

  • Some find it easier to work through body-based or creative approaches.

  • Some aren’t sure what they need yet.

There is no fixed formula.

The focus is on helping them feel safer in their bodies and more able to regulate emotions when things feel difficult.

Support for neurodivergent teens

I offer neurodivergence-affirming support for autistic and ADHD teens.

Adolescence can amplify sensory sensitivity, social fatigue and identity questions. Many neurodivergent teens experience exhaustion from masking or feeling misunderstood.

Our work builds understanding, steadiness and self-trust.

Support may include:

  • Nervous system regulation tools

  • Sensory awareness and strategies

  • Somatic-informed therapeutic work

  • Emotional processing

  • Building self-advocacy skills

Anxiety, overwhelm & emotional regulation

Teens may come to see me because of:

  • Anxiety or panic

  • Emotional outbursts or shutdown

  • Difficulty sleeping

  • School-related stress

  • Low mood

  • Social overwhelm

Together we work on:

  • Understanding nervous system responses

  • Building regulation practices

  • Strengthening resilience

  • Developing coping tools they can actually use

We move slowly and safely.

Somatic & regulation-based support

Teen support may draw from:

  • Nervous system regulation

  • Somatic therapy

  • Sensory integration approaches

  • Safe and Sound Protocol (when appropriate)

We decide together what feels manageable.

Working with parents & carers

For younger teens especially, parent/carer support is part of the process.

Supporting a teen often means supporting the whole system around them.

I may work with you to:

  • Understand regulation patterns

  • Adjust expectations

  • Strengthen co-regulation

  • Reduce shame or blame

For teens in St Neots and online

Sessions are available in person in St Neots, Cambridgeshire and online.

If your teen is unsure about starting therapy, we can begin with a gentle conversation.

If you’re wondering whether this support could help your teen, we can talk it through.

There’s no pressure.

Just space to explore what feels right.
