About Jolene

Trauma-trained, neurodivergence-affirming support for children, teens and adults based in St Neots, Cambridgeshire.

Hello, I'm Jolene, thank you for being here.

I founded Heart in Mind to create a space where therapeutic and holistic support could sit alongside one another, rather than feeling separate.

Over the years, my work has grown into something steady and integrative. I support children, adolescents, families and adults with a focus on nervous system regulation, somatic approaches and neurodivergence-affirming care.

At the centre of it all is safety.

Jolene, trauma-trained and neurodivergence-affirming therapist in St Neots and online.

My story

For more than twenty years, I’ve worked in holistic therapies. Over the last decade, I’ve trained and practised as a therapeutic counsellor.

But my journey into this work began long before the qualifications.

Earlier in my career, I worked in sales, accounting and computer programming. Alongside those roles, I trained in massage, reiki, kinesiology, nutrition and Indian head massage, running a small practice in London.

When I became a parent, something shifted.

I felt drawn toward working with children, especially those who were finding it hard to stay in class or manage school life. I trained as a Relax Kids Coach and began running sessions in schools.

I recognised something familiar in many of those children. The anxiety. The overwhelm. The sense of not quite fitting the mould.

Supporting them lit something in me that I couldn’t ignore.

A turning point

After the tragic suicide of my brother, I stepped away from the “safe” career path and committed fully to this work.

That loss deepened my understanding of how fragile, and how precious, emotional safety can be.

I trained extensively, including with the Institute for Arts in Therapy and Education, inspired by the work of Dr Margot Sunderland.

I qualified as a Trauma Informed Schools Practitioner and as a BACP Registered Integrative Counsellor for Adolescents using the Arts.

Since then, I’ve continued to expand my training in:

  • Child Accelerated Trauma Therapy (CATT)

  • Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP)

  • ADHD Coaching

  • Sensory Intelligence and integration

  • Hatha Yoga

  • Neuroaffirming approaches to autism

I am currently studying interoception and working toward qualification as an Autism Coach.

Learning is ongoing. It needs to be.

How I work

My approach is trauma-trained and neurodivergence-affirming. That means:

  • I work with the nervous system rather than against it

  • I pace sessions carefully and collaboratively

  • I don’t focus on compliance or behaviour control

Whether I’m working with a child, a teen or an adult, the focus is the same. Building safety first.

From there, we can explore what feels manageable.

Why this work matters to me

At the heart of all my work is a simple belief.

Every person deserves to feel seen, understood and supported in a way that honours who they are.

My role is not to change you or your child into something else.

It is to walk alongside you, offering space, steadiness and tools that meet you where you are.

If what you’ve read resonates, I’d be glad to hear from you.

We can talk through what’s been happening and explore what kind of support might feel right.
