Integrative Counselling using the Arts

Sometimes it can be hard to find the words for what’s going on inside. That’s why I offer counselling that doesn’t rely on talking alone.
By weaving in the arts, drawing, music, movement, drama, even poetry, young people have different ways to express their inner world, especially when feelings feel too big or too tangled to say out loud.

Every young person I meet is different, so there’s no fixed formula. Together, we create a space that feels safe, calm, and shaped around their needs. Some might prefer quiet and gentle conversation, others might find it easier to use art, play, or movement. Whatever the path, the focus is always on supporting them in a way that feels natural and accessible.

My approach is integrative and trauma-informed. That means I draw on a range of therapeutic models, such as person-centred therapy, CBT, ACT, DBT, and psychodynamic ideas, alongside creative methods. Using these together offers flexibility: sometimes words are enough, and sometimes the arts open up a door to feelings that are harder to reach.

The benefits of this work can include emotional release, increased self-awareness, improved communication, problem-solving skills, and healing from past experiences. Above all, it gives young people a safe place to feel accepted exactly as they are.
If you’re curious whether this approach could support your child, we can talk it through together before beginning.
